Oregon Opal Flower Ring

My intention for this ring was to provide a talisman for joy. The combination of Opal and Pink Sapphire stones does just that. A golden, faceted Oregon Opal set in 18k gold, is happily surrounded by 8 Pink Sapphires and 8 gold granules.

Opal is made up of silica and a small percentage of water and is not actually a crystal. There are tiny silica spheres within the silica and water that can cause light diffraction. Opals have been used in jewelry throughout history. In Roman times, Opals were thought to bring good luck and hope. Oregon Opal is very clear compared to other Opal varieties. It was accidentally discovered by a shepherd over a 100 years ago in Oregon. The Oregon Opal was originally sold to Tiffany’s and became very popular. Oregon Opals are thought to enhance joy, self-expression, and imagination.

Sapphire comes in many colors and are excellent gems for jewelry because of their durability. Sapphires have been prized gemstones throughout history as they were believed to attract wealth and protection. Sapphires are thought to enhance the mind and bring clarity of thinking. Pink Sapphire is thought to stimulate the emotion of love.

Note: As opal is a softer stone, care should be taken not to drop or knock it. Avoid contact with lotions and any chemicals.
